Zeta Profiles of Academic Excellence is a scholarship program that highlights the accomplishments of African American high school young women.  This program celebrates academic achievements, service to the community and outstanding leadership.  Three scholarships will be presented in the amount of $1,500, $1,000 and $500. The scholarship program is sponsored by the Alpha Mu Zeta Chapter's Zeta Dove Foundation of Little Rock, a 501c3 non-profit organization.

History of the Profiles of Academic Excellence

Formerly known as the Mi Ladi's Brunch

In 1976, as Alpha Mu Zeta Chapter began making plans to host the South Central regional meeting, Soror Levada P. Mason planted the seed on having the Mi Ladi’s Brunch by presenting her idea of the Mi Ladi’s Brunch to the chapter. She desired to sponsor a brunch similar to one she observed while working as a home economist in Crittenden County.

Soror  Mason and Soror Nannie Childs implemented the details and the first Mi Ladi’s Brunch was held. The Brunch featured home economic students from Central, Hall and Parkview High Schools modeling garments they made in their classes. First, second and third place prizes were awarded for the best made and modeled dresses. The Home Economics class of Philander Smith College modeled free of charge.

Soror Mason and Soror Myrtle Birch developed a souvenir program booklet for the Brunch. As years passed Soror Juanita Henderson joined the chapter and assumed the role of Brunch Chairperson for many years.  The Sorority also began honoring high school girls with certificates. Later scholarships were awarded to a member of Tau Chapter at Philander Smith College and a student from Shorter College.

The Mi Ladi’s Brunch has continued to make changes but the ideals to actively participate in the encouragement of our young people through financial support have remained the same. Today the Mi Ladi’s Brunch spotlights young women who are seniors and have maintained a cumulative grade point of 2.5 or higher and been actively involved in school, church and/or community activities. Three scholarships totaling $3,000 are awarded. The recipients who meet the requirements write an essay and are interviewed by impartial judges.

Alpha Mu Zeta members are proud of the  Mi Ladi’s Brunch and for what it stands.Through this venture, the chapter upholds the founding principles of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority which are Service, Scholarship, Sisterly Love and Finer Womanhood.
